Hmm...
Sometimes I write in english.

Why this is so cool for me is because it literally becomes a tutorial for a good friend of mine. She´s knitting a pair of socks for me. The surplus goes to fight cancer.
Now, two weeks after the event GTASWE (at the Google Teacher Academy one becomes a Google Certified Teacher), I´m eager to engage the headmasters and ICT-team throughout the schools to learn more about some new powerful tools I encountered during the hectic 2 days at the Google HQ in Stockholm.
I will of course make this concrete in a personal action plan, but this is some first thoughts.
The thing I´m focusing on is processes.
One big process (the biggest) is to support headmasters in their pursuit for a more modern school when it comes to the view on knowledge. Depending on the dialogue with each and one of the principle I now have more own knowledge of powerful tools to "give" them. There I think I will especially push for motions graphs via speradsheets, that helps to see progress in a more vivid viusal way. For example the connection between the grades in mathematics at the final stage of secondary school compared to the first stage in the same topic at high schol. The data should be put in school by school. This is a very important factor. If one have very good results at the end of secondary school, does it have an impact that you can see when they begin at high school? And what are the possible explanations for the fluctuation between schools and years? I will also push for social media and Blogger, so that they publish their thoughts over time.
Another process is how to increase the knowledge within the ICT-teams. At the moment we are focusing a great deal on making speech synthesis popular and avaliable "en masse". There we mainly use the fantastic AppWriter CLoud within the Chrome browser, we are pushing the technology forward when it comes to the swedish version. For example soon there will be a feature that allows the user to read aloud the syllabels of every word (we already for instance have sounding keybord and word prediction).
Then there is the process to help merge the ideas from the headmasters with the knowledge and passion from the ICT-teams.
I must not forget myself. As for now I´m putting a bit of a effort in to understand the beauty of League of Legends. Why gaming can be such a powerful tool in and outside the classroom.
I´ve enrolled into my first on line game. The account is chosen and as I write the updates are downloading. A bit nervous since I only have a MacBook Air with 64 Gb storage space. This is the only true way to really understand how one could use this for a pedagocy purpose.
Why did I choose LOL?
Because it works with Mac (our municipality Orust have chosen Mac for the teachers and students) AND because it´s the biggest on line game at this time.
Why did I do it, (enroll to LOL)?
Last night I had a long talk with a young relative that have a really healthy approach to gaming. He plays a lot and as well is engaged in 3 different sports. And makes very good ethical choices inside the games. So I have good support while getting started.
I´ll be back.
P S My summoner name in LOL is Harfager1971 and I´m about to enter the world of tutorials and the first levels to gain points. D S
So many competent people in the same surroundings. Everyone with the same goal in the everyday work, to do their best in letting technology enhance the learning environment.
Cultural input from China, South Africa, Singapore, Hongkong, Italy, Finland, Poland, US, Vietnam, Canada and Switzerland.
Teachers, tech integrators and librarians.
And 4 leaders (experienced Google Certified Teachers). My team was called Hasselblad
The Google HQ was really nice. The mentality was really awesome.
The biggest thing from the day was the big feeling of what a big network I´ve just been given acess to.
On Tuesday and Wednesday 10-11/12, I´m very proud to attend the Google Teacher Academy (GTA), this time in Stockholm. It isn´t that easy to get in, but now I´m in. Here´s a bit info over what it is.
There´s not so many GTA around the world but theese 2 days will provide 7 more Google Certified Teachers from Sweden. We will be at the Google HQ.
As I have expanded my PLN (personal learner network) via Twitter and since I was in Maine the spring of 2011 I then got connected to Alice Barr. I saw that there was going to be a GTASWE via her twitter feed. Thank you, Alice!
The application it self was not that hard to fill out, but the final part was a bit more of a challenge, a one-minute video. The topic was "Positive change in my community" and 1 minute is VERY short. I started out with writing a script. Which I had to shorten a numerous of times
Here´s my 1-minute video that was required as a very important thing in the application.
My team during the two days is lead by an experienced Google Certified Teacher from Finland. As a preperation we have had a HangOut to get to know each other.
The welcome package from GTA included a lot of things. One was a request for participation at a kind of a demoslam for 3-5 minutes each. I said yes and one of my suggestions was approved. Here´s my base for those 3-5 minutes.
I will be back during and after the 2 days, always writing in english.
